SIG's P320 was a great success. Not just with the military who adopted it as the M17 and M18 series, but with hundreds of law enforcement agencies and thousands of concealed carriers. SIG threw its full weight behind the gun and allowed customers like me to pick and choose parts for our P320 to build our own. I did just that with my own P320C, the C stands for compact.
Glock 19 Or Sig P320
The compact form of firearms as we know them today began with the Glock 19 and the SIG P228. The Glock 19 series quickly became the standard carrier for polymer-framed, striker-fired compact pistols. Glock got a little complacent though, and the P320C is eating their lunch before they know it.
Why Is The Glock 19 Pistol The Favorite Of The World's Most Elite Forces?
Like the Glock 19, the P320C offers a compact pistol with a double battery magazine that's big enough to fill your hand but easy to conceal. Unlike the Glock 19, the P320 comes with proper metal sights, an in-spec Picatinny rail, a more ergonomic grip, and the ability to take it all to yourself. Mine features an X Series grip module with Custom Series slide and Legion Series trigger with an optic mount.
Being able to choose your components puts the P320C above most guns at its price point.
The core of the P320C and P320 series in general is the FCU. The fire control unit is the officially recognized firearm part of the P320. This little fellow has a serial number and gives shooters the ability to jump between the gun and the frame. I can convert my P320C to a full size P320 with parts I can easily order online.
This allows for modularity beyond any other pistol that I am currently aware of. It allowed me to buy my own dream P320C and it allows you to do the same. The P320C comes standard with metal night sights, two magazines and multiple settings.

The gun weighs 25.8 ounces, is 7.2 inches long, 1.3 inches wide, 5.3 inches long and has a 3.9-inch barrel. It is a compact pistol that is easy to conceal, yet remains a perfectly capable combat pistol. It can mount a full-size light on its Picatinny rail, and as you can see, it makes the perfect host for an optic.
If you're not a fan of the Glock's grip angle, fear not. The P320C has a more Americanized grip angle, similar to the 1911. Although this is a personal preference, it gives me a more ergonomic grip. On the back we have a nice beavertail that encourages a high grip to maximize control.
Below the trigger we have a nice undercut to support this high grip. It's a comfortable pistol to hold and it fits small and large hands well.
Easy to control. Slideshow Classic GIS. This means it's easy to reach, but also very easy to pin down as you shoot, making it somewhat pointless. It's disconcerting, which is good, I'll admit. The magazine release is easily accessible and reversible, but not obscured.
Sig P320 Pro Slide (select Length)
In my hands, this is one of the most accurate compact pistols on the market. It got better after adding a red dot. The P320C lets me play an 8-inch gong 50 yards with no problem. The Legion trigger provides a flat, very crisp trigger that returns to a light wall and then a smooth break.
When we talk about speed, I turn to the drill 10-10-10 and smoke without heating. The 10-10-10 drill is ten rounds in ten seconds at a distance of ten yards on a B8 target. I did it with all of them, not just black, 9 rings in seven seconds on my first run. From there, I saw my times drop to just a splinter of a second while maintaining excellent accuracy.
The larger trigger, optics and ergonomics give the P320C an edge in this setup. However, even a standard P320C can shoot in a straight line. These features help the shooter eliminate human error, but are not as effective if the gun's core is faulty.
Oh, here's a big problem that a firearm will fail quickly. If it doesn't work, then precision, ergonomics and the like are useless. So does the P320C work? Well, in my several hundred downrange rounds, I can happily say that yes, it works.

Besides me, the US military has done quite a bit of torture with guns, as have dozens of police forces across the country. I would say that it is quite reliable.
The SIG P320C offers a more refined compact pistol. It is user customizable, highly accurate, reliable and now the choice of the US military in the form of the M18 series. If you want a better Glock 19, the P320C is the way to go.
